Annual Vignette
The annual vignette is the most popular variant and is valid for 13 months. It is valid from 1 December of the previous year for the following calendar year and ends on 31 January of the year after next. This gives drivers an overlap of two months to purchase the new vignette.
For frequent drivers and commuters, the annual vignette is the most economical choice. The price per day is lowest with the annual vignette.

2-Month Vignette
The 2-month vignette is valid for two months from the date of purchase. It is ideal for holidaymakers spending a longer time in Austria, or for people who only occasionally use the motorway.

10-Day Vignette
The 10-day vignette is valid for ten consecutive days and is the most affordable option for transit travellers and short visitors. It is ideal for drivers who are only briefly passing through Austria or planning a short holiday.

Digital Vignette
Since 2018, Austria has had the digital vignette (e-vignette). It is registered to the official number plate of the vehicle and is invisible. Enforcement is carried out by automatic number plate recognition at checkpoints.

Exemptions from the Vignette Obligation
Not all vehicles and routes are subject to the vignette obligation. The following exemptions apply:
- Emergency vehicles (police, fire brigade, ambulance, armed forces)
- Vehicles with disability pass (under certain conditions)
- Vehicles over 3.5 tonnes (these require GO-Box)
- Diplomatic vehicles
- Public administration vehicles
- Certain agricultural vehicles
- Vehicles on breakdown assistance
- Bicycles and e-bikes

Glossary
- Vignette
- A toll sticker that entitles the holder to use motorways and expressways in Austria. Available as a sticker vignette or digital vignette.
- ASFINAG
- Autobahnen- und Schnellstraßen-Finanzierungs-Aktiengesellschaft – the state-owned company responsible for the construction, operation and financing of the Austrian motorway network.
- Digital Vignette
- An electronic vignette registered to the vehicle number plate. No physical sticker required.
- Route Toll
- An additional toll levied for certain routes (e.g. Brenner, Arlberg) that is not covered by the vignette.
- Replacement Toll
- A penalty payment for drivers caught on toll roads without a valid vignette.
- Maut
- General term for road usage fees in Austria.
